Green, blue and orange signs have begun to litter State College’s front yards. These signs — written in Spanish, English and Arabic — contain the same message: “No matter where you are from, we’re glad you’re our neighbor.”

The signs were started by Immanuel Mennonite Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Ben Wideman, campus minister at 3rd Way Collective, knows the pastor at that church and ordered 10 signs.

“In the midst, in that moment of the political season there was a lot of tension around telling certain people they didn’t belong here and I thought having a sign like that in my yard would be a small way to extend a welcome to people who aren’t necessarily from this country,” Wideman said.
