3rd Way Collective was a Penn State University Student Organization that worked to create spaces for peace, justice, and faith on campus and in our community.
We did this in many ways:
Explored themes of peace and justice, community and service, spirituality and discipleship through campus events, conversations, service opportunities, faith talks, and guest speakers.
Applied understandings of explored themes with mentors from the local community. Engaged in service projects on term breaks. Connected with experiences that match skills and passions.
Reflected on new understandings and experiences with both internal and group reflection with mentors and other students.

We were a community focused on relationships, partnerships, peacemaking, and reconciliation. We believe that Christians shouldn’t be intolerant and exclusive (read our belonging statement right here), but should seek to follow Jesus’ example of love for all.

3rd Way Collective was led by Pastor Ben Wideman and our student officer team.
3rd Way Collective was founded by University Mennonite Church in State College – a local group of Anabaptists associated with Mennonite Church USA. We are currently supported by two other peace churches – University Baptist & Brethren Church and State College Friends Meeting.
