Fall 2018 Reflection

Several months ago a student reached out to me…

During her years at Penn State she had been hiding the fact that she was a Christian, because she felt like that identity required her to be close-minded, unscientific, homophobic, and judgmental. Her passion was standing up for issues of inclusion and diversity, and she felt like she couldn’t do those things AND be a Christian… that is, until she learned about 3rd Way Collective, and our unique “third way”, combining faith with a call to peace and justice.

Now in our fifth year at Penn State your support has led to…

– Almost 500 faith-based peace and justice events and activities that have connected with more than 10,000 people on campus and in our community

– Collaboration with dozens of organizations to work at the issues our campus and community are facing, helping to create new organizations and groups committed to local causes

– Service opportunities engaging poverty, the environment, racism, LGBTQA+ inclusion, and immigration – both here on campus and also traveling during student breaks

– Relationships of compassionate people walking with those who are in need of allies and advocacy, and a place to belong

Our presence has allowed students and community members to stand up for the causes they believe in, and has reminded justice-minded people that there are people of faith who care about standing up against hatred and marginalization, and desire to see a better and more peaceful world.

Thank you for your ongoing love and prayer, without people like you, this would not be possible!
