At 1:18 p.m., symbolic of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the DJ turned the music down in the HUB-Robeson Center and Jael Charles took to the microphone.
Charles announced the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Commemoration theme will be ‘Keep Moving Forward’ and Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, is scheduled as the keynote speaker for the January holiday.
The theme encourages conversations about social justice and a push to take a stand as a community, Charles said.
